I began doing website in the mid '90s but my journey into Joomla!^TM happened about 2 years ago. I first started looking at some of the Content Management Systems or 'CMS' that were available. The top rated ones are Drupal, WordPress, and Joomla!. I read many articles and even tried a trial offer or two before deciding to use Joomla! as my preferred CMS. The reasons were obvious. Joomla! was the newest in name, but was developed from it's predecessor called Mambo.
